S64 Review

Written by Team Oasis at 11:17 27/5-2023

Season 64 can be best described as a season of disappointments. Our top climber Douglas Andren was sent in TF to both Alpe d' Huez and ZBZ. Given the strenght of the climbing squad, the aim was to get 1 trophy and have a good chance on a double. That didn't work out quite that way. Douglas got an off day in Alpe and was beaten by a BA in ZBZ. Major bummer in a season with few other objectives.

Furthermore Vadimas Blekevicius in TF didn't win Taiwan Black Bear Tour and did just as good in TF as without, scoring 2nd in GC again. Also the CL stage was not won. Consolation was that the winner in this case was actually on the upper hand and Vadimas secured the YC. Victor Mahan messed up his TT in Vuelta de los Castillos for perhaps a podium spot in GC.

Another thing that didn't help was Douglas having more offdays during the CL season and the many transfers we did didn't help the TS. So overall the amount of results and prize money dropped from the climb squad. However Vadimas did show his promise with winning two regular CL races. This gives us good hopes for the future but not enough to raise this season above the mediocre level.

Italy Carlino Gigante: for two DH wins, one in Iran.
